Appeals Process

If you disagree with a moderation action:

  1. Contact staff privately through appropriate channels
  2. Provide specific details about the situation
  3. Remain respectful in your appeal
  4. Wait for response - appeals are reviewed fairly
  5. Accept final decisions from senior staff

Self-Moderation

Before Posting

Ask yourself:

  • Is this helpful to the discussion?
  • Is this in the right category?
  • Would I want to read this if I were someone else?
  • Does this respect community guidelines?
  • Am I being constructive rather than just critical?

Positive Contribution

Help build a better community:

  • Welcome new users and help them learn
  • Share knowledge and expertise generously
  • Give constructive feedback on others' posts
  • Use reactions to show appreciation
  • Report problems you encounter

Special Situations

  • Consequences exist for deliberately false reports
  • Good faith mistakes are generally acceptable

Emergency Content

For urgent issues:

  • Contact staff directly if available
  • Provide detailed explanation of the urgency
  • Follow up appropriately without spamming

Anonymous Reporting

  • All reports are confidential to staff
  • Reported users don't see who reported them
  • Staff may contact you for clarification if needed

Communication Tips

When contacting staff:

  • Be specific about the issue
  • Provide relevant links or post references
  • Stay professional and respectful
  • Be patient - staff are volunteers
  • Follow instructions given by staff members

Staff Availability

  • Response times vary based on issue severity
  • Emergency issues get priority attention
  • Routine matters may take longer to resolve
  • Staff are volunteers with other responsibilities
